Israel Contreras is an emergency medical services leader, paramedic, and educator with more than two decades of experience in prehospital care. He serves as Manager of EMS Transformation and Innovation at Global Medical Response, where he helps advance initiatives designed to improve patient care, clinical outcomes, operational performance, and the integration of EMS within the broader healthcare system.

Throughout his career, Israel has held clinical, training, and operational leadership responsibilities, including roles as a training officer, supervisor and clinical operations chief. His work combines frontline experience with a strong commitment to workforce development, continuous improvement, and practical innovation.

Israel is a passionate advocate for expanding the patient’s access to care. He works to broaden the role of EMS beyond transportation, into a comprehensive out-of-hospital healthcare delivery system. Known for his compassion, optimism, and service-centered leadership, he is dedicated to strengthening the professionals and systems that communities rely on during their most critical moments. Approaching his work with kindness and empathy, he hopes to transform EMS in a way that keeps care at the center.
